PROCUREMENT & COMPARABLE PROPOSALS
Competitive bid
A competitive bid is a supplier proposal submitted within a process that compares offers for defined work. Evaluation can include price, capability, service, risk and commercial terms.
COMPETITIVE BID IN PRACTICE
- Define the workIssue consistent requirements and assumptions.
- Normalize the offersCompare scope and modeled total cost.
- Validate the choiceCheck capability and contractual commitments.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
$1 per order. Different included work.
Two providers quote $1 per order. One includes the first item pick; the other charges every item separately. A 1,000-order profile therefore needs the same line and unit data applied to both quotations. The identical headline amount is not evidence of equal total cost.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
