SOFTWARE WORKFLOW AUTOMATION
Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
Robotic process automation uses software to execute defined repetitive tasks across computer systems. It can automate structured workflow steps without being a physical warehouse robot or inherently an AI decision-maker.
ROBOTIC PROCESS AUTOMATION IN PRACTICE
- Define the workflowSpecify inputs, rules and permitted actions.
- Control the executionUse approved access and change safeguards.
- Review the exceptionsKeep logs and an accountable owner.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
A faster upload needs the same item-master accountability.
A bot compares WMS data with a brand item master and supplier PO. It prepares mismatches for review rather than automatically replacing a unit UPC with a case UPC because one file is newer.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
