QUALITY & WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS
Quality control (QC)
Quality control (QC) checks goods or work against defined requirements, records the results and supports decisions about acceptance, correction or rejection.
QUALITY CONTROL IN PRACTICE
- Define the checkSet criteria, scope and the approved inspection method.
- Inspect & recordIdentify checked units and capture the results.
- Hold or releaseRoute the result to the authorized decision owner.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
80 checked.
2 defects recorded.
A warehouse receives a lot of 1,000 units. Under an approved sampling process, staff inspect 80 and identify two defective units. That is 2.5% of the inspected sample. It does not establish that exactly 25 units in the lot are defective, or automatically decide whether the lot passes. The agreed sampling plan and defect classifications determine the next action. Preserve the count and evidence while the responsible owner reviews the result.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT
Questions about Quality control
Is QC the same as quality assurance?
They are related. QA focuses on the system and processes for meeting requirements; QC checks goods or work against those requirements.
Does AQL guarantee a maximum defect rate in each accepted lot?
No. Acceptance sampling uses a defined plan to support a lot acceptance decision. It does not guarantee a defect-free lot or an exact lot defect percentage.
Should failed or uncertain goods remain available to pick?
Follow the agreed status and hold controls so unapproved goods are not released while the issue is reviewed.
