CHANNELS & INVENTORY COORDINATION
Omnichannel logistics
Omnichannel logistics coordinates inventory, fulfillment and returns across sales channels so stock and service decisions remain connected as customers move between them.
OMNICHANNEL LOGISTICS IN PRACTICE
- Connect stock recordsDefine shared identities, statuses and availability.
- Coordinate the orderReserve eligible stock and route the required work.
- Reconcile the outcomeRecord shipment, cancellation and return events.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
100 on hand.
70 for new demand.
A SKU has 100 eaches on hand, with 20 committed to existing orders and 10 on hold. Under this simple policy, 70 remain eligible for new demand. If the website and a marketplace each independently offer all 70, they have not created 140 available units. A shared reservation process or explicitly divided stock pools must prevent conflicting commitments. Cancellations and approved returns also need to update the right records without releasing held or uninspected goods.
