WAREHOUSE SPACE & HANDLING
Dock Door
A dock door is a facility opening used as an interface for loading or unloading goods between the building and transport equipment.
DOCK DOOR IN PRACTICE
- Match the vehicle
- Assign the door
- Control the handoff
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Ten doors. Six inbound assignments.
A facility has ten doors, but four are allocated to outbound work during the morning peak. Only six are initially assigned to inbound operations. A door reserved for specialist equipment or an incompatible vehicle cannot be treated as interchangeable capacity simply because it is physically present.
