FULFILLMENT & PRODUCT VARIANTS
Apparel fulfillment
Apparel fulfillment handles the storage and execution of clothing orders, including identification of style, color and size variants. Packaging, presentation, retail preparation and returns requirements vary by brand and channel.
APPAREL FULFILLMENT IN PRACTICE
- Map the variantsCreate and verify each sellable item identity.
- Pick and presentVerify the variant and apply packing instructions.
- Grade returned goodsInspect condition before stock release.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
10 styles × 6 sizes × 4 colors.
If every combination is offered, ten styles in six sizes and four colors create 240 distinct variants. That is a SKU-complexity calculation, not a stock quantity. The warehouse needs a reliable identity for each variant and must verify the ordered size and color when picking. A similar-looking item from the neighboring bin can be wrong even when the general style matches.
