Amazon Best Sellers Rank indicates a product’s sales position relative to other products in a specified category. Interpret it with the marketplace, category and observation time.
AMAZON BEST SELLERS RANK IN PRACTICE
- Identify the contextRecord marketplace, category and time.
- Read the relative positionUse the rank as a comparative sales signal.
- Plan from broader evidenceCombine actual orders, stock and replenishment data.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Rank 100 is not 100 daily sales.
A product appears at rank 100 in one category and another at rank 100 in a different category. Those observations do not establish matching daily demand. Before placing replenishment, the brand reviews its own sales history, promotions, available stock, supplier lead time and the category context. A temporary movement in relative rank is one input to investigate, not a purchase order quantity.

No. It is a sales ranking rather than a customer-review score.
Can BSR tell us exactly how many units to buy?
No. Use actual demand, stock, lead time and risk assumptions when setting replenishment.
