A weight-losing raw material has a lower material mass retained in the defined finished output after processing. Removed moisture, trim or other separated material can account for the difference.

WEIGHT-LOSING RAW MATERIAL IN PRACTICE

  1. Set the boundaryMeasure comparable input and output.
  2. Reconcile the streamsRecord product and separated material.
  3. Plan with evidenceUse a supported yield assumption.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

100 kg in. 80 kg retained.

A hypothetical process retains 80 kg in the main output from 100 kg of input. The retained-mass ratio is 80%. The other 20 kg requires a supported material balance; it may include moisture removal or separated material rather than an unexplained loss.

A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

Questions about Weight-Losing Raw Material

Is all weight reduction theft or shrinkage?

No. Processing can remove moisture or separate other material.

Does retained output alone explain the balance?

No. Reconcile other streams and measurement conditions.

Is yield identical for every batch?

Not necessarily. Material and process conditions can vary.
