A waybill is a transport document or record describing a shipment and relevant movement details. Its format, functions and legal effect depend on the mode and applicable service.

WAYBILL IN PRACTICE

  1. Identify the documentUse the exact mode and form.
  2. Validate the detailsCheck parties, goods and routing.
  3. Control the handoverUse the applicable release process.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Correct cargo. Wrong consignee field.

A shipment’s package count matches the booking, but its waybill lists an outdated consignee. The team corrects the record through the carrier’s approved process before relying on it for delivery instructions. Matching the quantity alone is insufficient.
