TRANSPORTATION NETWORK DESIGN IN PRACTICE

  1. Describe the demandUse representative origins and destinations.
  2. Compare configurationsModel feasible routes and capacities.
  3. Validate the choiceTest sensitivity and real capability.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

A nearer warehouse with added inventory.

A proposed second warehouse reduces some parcel distances but duplicates stock and adds replenishment work. The team compares service, transport, storage and inventory effects rather than declaring the shortest delivery distance automatically best.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
