FULFILLMENT & OPERATING CONTROL
Shipping Zones
Shipping zones are carrier- or service-defined geographic pricing or service groupings. The zone for a shipment may depend on its origin, destination, service and the applicable zone chart.
SHIPPING ZONES IN PRACTICE
- Set the originUse the actual shipping location.
- Find the zoneApply the relevant chart and service.
- Calculate the chargeUse the rated package and agreement.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Same customer. Different origin.
A parcel sent from Warehouse A to a customer maps to one zone in the selected carrier chart. Sending the same item from Warehouse B can map to another. Compare the complete delivered cost, inventory placement and service result rather than assuming the lower zone always produces the best network decision.
