A product catalog organizes information about products and variants offered through a defined channel or business. It can present descriptions, identifiers, specifications and other attributes, with scope determined by the actual system.

PRODUCT CATALOG IN PRACTICE

  1. Define the recordsSeparate families, variants and pack levels.
  2. Maintain the attributesUse approved sources and versions.
  3. Connect availabilityApply the relevant stock and selling rules.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

A published listing can still have no available units.

A product remains in a catalog while its stock is reserved or unavailable. The order process checks the actual availability and channel rules instead of promising from catalog presence alone.
