SUPPLIER SELECTION & ACQUISITION
Procurement
Procurement organizes the acquisition of goods or services, from defining the need and evaluating suppliers through the agreed purchasing and supplier-management process. Its scope is broader than merely sending an order.
PROCUREMENT IN PRACTICE
- Define the needSpecify output, units and service requirements.
- Evaluate the supplyCompare capability and complete cost.
- Control the commitmentApprove orders, changes and performance review.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
The cheapest case price needs the correct case definition.
A buyer compares supplier offers. It verifies units per case, product specification, delivery terms and expected handling cost before treating the quoted case prices as equivalent.
