PRODUCT PACKAGING LEVELS
Primary Packaging
Primary packaging is the packaging level that directly contains or presents the product in the relevant packaging system. It is commonly the immediate product-contact pack, with the precise application defined for the product.

A WORKED EXAMPLE
One product can have several packaging identities.
A product sits in an immediate container, then a retail presentation pack and a shipping case. The team documents which level is identified, counted and handled in each system.
