NET-REQUIREMENT REPLENISHMENT
Lot-for-Lot
Lot-for-lot is a lot-sizing rule that creates planned quantities equal to the net requirements for each planning period. It does not add a fixed batch quantity merely to cover later periods.
LOT-FOR-LOT IN PRACTICE
- Calculate the net needReconcile demand with usable supply.
- Match the periodPropose the quantity needed for that period.
- Check feasibilityReview lead times and supplier constraints.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Demand of 100 does not always require an order of 100.
A period has demand for 100 units and 40 usable units already available, with no other modeled supply or protection. The simplified net requirement is 60 units, so a pure lot-for-lot proposal is 60.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
