GRAVITY STORAGE & PICK FACES
Flow Rack
A flow rack uses inclined lanes with rollers or wheels to move suitable loads toward a picking or discharge face by gravity. Carton-flow and pallet-flow systems are different applications.
FLOW RACK IN PRACTICE
- Specify the loadConfirm cartons or pallets and their condition.
- Approve the systemUse the designed lane and operating limits.
- Control the stockManage replenishment, picking and exceptions.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
First through the lane is not always eligible.
A flow lane presents the earliest loaded carton first, but that lot is placed on hold. Operators must follow the approved exception process. The rack’s movement sequence cannot override the WMS status or authorize release.
