BULK STORAGE & LOAD STABILITY

Floor Stacking

Also called

Reading time
3 minutes

Floor stacking stores unit loads or goods on the warehouse floor, sometimes in approved vertical stacks, without conventional storage racking for those positions.

FLOOR STACKING IN PRACTICE

  1. Assess the loadVerify stackable product and packaging.
  2. Design the areaPlan access, segregation and capacity.
  3. Control the stackUse approved limits and inspections.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

A footprint calculation is not a stacking approval.

A planner estimates how many pallet footprints fit in an area. Before using vertical stacks, the responsible team assesses the actual load, packaging, floor and access requirements. Doubling the stack count on a spreadsheet does not establish safe capacity.
