REPLENISHMENT POLICIES & TRIGGERS
Fixed Order Quantity (FOQ)
Fixed order quantity is a replenishment policy that uses a specified order size when its defined replenishment trigger is met. The trigger, review timing and order modifiers must be documented.
FIXED ORDER QUANTITY IN PRACTICE
- Define the triggerSpecify the stock position and threshold.
- Set the order sizeChoose an approved quantity and modifiers.
- Review the policyMonitor shortages, excess and parameter changes.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
A trigger calls for 200, not a top-up to 200.
A policy sets an order quantity of 200 units when the defined inventory position reaches its trigger. That means ordering 200 under the policy, rather than automatically raising on-hand stock to a level of 200. These are different replenishment rules.
