OUTBOUND RELEASE & CARRIER HANDOFF
Dispatch
Dispatch is the coordinated release and departure of goods for transport. It connects prepared orders, the correct load, carrier handoff and shipment records.
DISPATCH IN PRACTICE
- Verify readinessMatch goods, documents and carrier service.
- Record the handoffCapture the agreed collection or departure event.
- Update connected systemsSend accurate status and tracking references.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Packed at 14:00. Collected at 16:00.
A parcel is packed and labeled at 14:00 but the carrier collects it at 16:00. A dispatch measure defined as collection uses the later event. Sending a customer message at label creation should not imply collection has already occurred.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
