A contract warehouse provides agreed storage and related logistics services under a negotiated arrangement. Space, resources, operating requirements and commercial commitments depend on the contract.

CONTRACT WAREHOUSE IN PRACTICE

  1. Define the profileSpecify stock, activity and peaks.
  2. Agree capacity and termsDocument resources, limits and change rules.
  3. Measure the serviceReview activity, cost and exit readiness.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Space reserved. Peak labor needs separate planning.

An agreement reserves space for 1,000 pallets. A promotion creates a sudden increase in each-pick orders. Reserved storage space does not demonstrate that enough pick labor or dispatch capacity was included for that peak. The parties review the activity assumptions and agreed escalation process.
