A WORKED EXAMPLE
100 units sold at $12 recorded cost.
In a simplified example with a uniform approved inventory cost of $12 per unit, 100 units sold correspond to $1,200 of inventory cost before any relevant accounting adjustments. The customer selling price and the supplier payment date are separate information. The example does not establish a universal costing policy for a business.
