Accounts payable (A/P)
Accounts payable records amounts a business owes suppliers for goods or services purchased on credit. In logistics, it can include unpaid warehouse, transport and packaging invoices.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE IN PRACTICE
- Capture the invoiceRecord supplier, invoice identity, amount and terms.
- Validate the chargeMatch prices, quantities and service evidence.
- Approve and settleResolve exceptions and authorize payment.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
$10,000 invoiced. $2,000 disputed.
A brand receives a $10,000 warehouse invoice and identifies a $2,000 line that does not match the agreed activity records. The team records the invoice and investigates the discrepancy rather than silently editing the supplier’s bill or paying a duplicate. Treatment of the disputed amount and payment timing follows the agreement and the business’s accounting procedures. A potential credit must be confirmed and recorded, not assumed.
