PACKAGING & CONTROLLED SETUP
Changeover
A changeover switches an operation from one product or configuration to another. It can involve equipment settings, materials, labels, work instructions and verification before the next run.
CHANGEOVER IN PRACTICE
- Clear the prior setupRemove or account for old materials and instructions.
- Set the new jobApply approved materials, settings and version.
- Verify the outputApprove the first result and record readiness.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Same product. A different case pack.
A packing station changes from a six-unit case to a twelve-unit case. The carton, label data and inventory conversion all need to match the new instruction. Changing only the box can leave a label or system record describing six units. A controlled first-output check catches that inconsistency before the full run.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
