WAREHOUSE DATA & SYNCHRONIZATION
Batch terminal communications
Batch terminal communications collects terminal transactions and transfers them to a host in groups rather than immediately sending every event. The design determines visibility delay and recovery behavior.
BATCH TERMINAL COMMUNICATIONS IN PRACTICE
- Capture locallyRecord transaction identity and event timing.
- Transfer the batchTrack acknowledgments at the required level.
- Reconcile resultsResolve rejected, missing and repeated events.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
40 scans. 35 accepted. Five unresolved.
A terminal sends 40 movement records. The host accepts 35 and rejects five for missing item mappings. Those five require investigation; re-sending all 40 could duplicate accepted movements without suitable controls. Local records, host-confirmed transactions and unresolved items should reconcile before the batch is declared complete.

A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT
Questions about Batch terminal communications
Is locally saved data already in the host?
Not necessarily. It may still await transfer or acceptance.
Can every batch be safely resent?
Only under the interface’s duplicate and partial-processing controls.
Is batch transfer inherently less reliable?
No. Reliability depends on design. Grouped transfer primarily changes when data becomes available.
