WAREHOUSING & PRODUCT CONDITIONS
Ambient storage
Ambient storage holds goods under the surrounding indoor conditions rather than a dedicated chilled or frozen regime. The acceptable temperature, humidity and monitoring requirements still depend on the product.

- Assess the facilityCheck actual conditions and seasonal variation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE
Ambient building. Product-specific limits.
A brand specifies a permitted storage range for its packaged product. A proposed ambient warehouse does not use chilled storage, but summer readings at an upper rack position exceed the brand’s upper limit. Calling the service “ambient” does not resolve the mismatch. The parties need a suitable location or controlled service and an agreed response to excursions before placing the product there.

A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT
Questions about Ambient storage
Does ambient mean no controls at all?
No. Housekeeping, environmental requirements and monitoring can still apply even without a chilled or frozen service.
Is ambient always 20–25°C?
No. Confirm the specific product requirements and the facility’s actual conditions.
Can shelf-stable goods still be damaged in ambient storage?
Yes. Heat, humidity, light, pests or unsuitable handling can still affect some products.
