An accumulation bin is a designated location or container where picked items are brought together before a later step, such as order completion or packing. Its identity and permitted contents should be controlled.

  1. Assign the destinationLink the bin to an order or other approved group.
  2. Collect the itemsConfirm each transfer into the location.
  3. Verify completionCheck the required contents before packing.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Three items. One completed order.

An order needs one unit each of products A, B and C from three picking zones. The first two arrive in accumulation bin 17. The bin contains two units, but the order is still incomplete until C is confirmed. After the full requirement is verified, the items move to packing and bin 17 is cleared before reassignment. Partial arrival is not evidence of short shipment or completed fulfillment.
