WAREHOUSE CONTROL & PERFORMANCE
Warranty Costs
Warranty costs are costs associated with meeting the actual warranty obligations for products or services. Depending on scope, they can include assessment, repair, replacement, transport and administration.
WARRANTY COSTS IN PRACTICE
- Define coverageIdentify the relevant obligation.
- Assess the claimRecord findings and authorized remedy.
- Review the costUse the agreed cost boundary.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Replacement cost includes more than the item.
A hypothetical approved claim requires a $20 replacement, $8 delivery and $5 processing: $33 across those components. Other costs or recoveries may apply. Counting only the replacement product would understate this example’s included cost.
