Unbundled Payment/Remittance
Unbundled payment/remittance means the funds transfer and the information explaining its allocation are communicated separately. The receiver must link the payment to the corresponding remittance detail.
UNBUNDLED PAYMENT/REMITTANCE IN PRACTICE
- Identify the paymentRetain the transfer reference and amount.
- Receive the detailCapture the remittance allocation.
- Match and reconcileLink the two records.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
One payment. Two invoice allocations.
A hypothetical $1,000 bank payment arrives separately from advice allocating $600 to Invoice A and $400 to Invoice B. The receiver matches the advice and payment using approved references. Without that match, receipt of cash alone does not establish which invoices are settled.
