Umbrella Rate
Umbrella rate is a context-dependent pricing expression that may be used for a rate covering an agreed group of services, lanes or traffic. Its meaning must be established from the actual quotation or tariff.

A WORKED EXAMPLE
One quoted rate with exclusions.
A hypothetical provider calls a negotiated price an umbrella rate for three lanes. The document excludes detention and special handling. The customer tests a normal shipment and an exception shipment to understand the total charge; the label does not erase those exclusions.
