INVENTORY & SUPPLY OPERATIONS
Storage Fees
Storage fees are the charges a provider applies for storing goods or reserving storage capacity under an agreement. The charging unit and included service determine what the quoted rate means.
STORAGE FEES IN PRACTICE
- Define the unitSpecify pallet, bin, volume or other basis.
- Apply the termsUse the agreed period and rate.
- Check the totalReconcile usage and extras.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
$10 per position. For what period?
A hypothetical rate of $10 per pallet position per month produces $100 for ten billable positions before any minimums or additional charges. A daily or peak-balance definition could change the result. The invented rate illustrates the calculation; it is not market pricing.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
Put this term to work. Use the 3PL pricing and rates guide for the wider invoice context and the guide to comparing 3PL quotes to compare the same scope, activity profile and billing units.
