BULK-TO-PICK REPLENISHMENT
Reserve Storage
Reserve storage holds inventory used to replenish forward picking or another defined operating area. It often supports bulk stock, but its role and location rules depend on the warehouse design.
RESERVE STORAGE IN PRACTICE
- Define the roleIdentify what the reserve supports.
- Control replenishmentMaintain source, destination and unit conversions.
- Verify availabilityTrack reservations, restrictions and actual stock.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Bulk stock still needs a controlled path to the pick face.
A forward location runs low while the reserve holds cases. The replenishment process verifies the case conversion and actual transfer so the pick location balance reflects what was physically supplied.
