OUTGOING GOODS & HANDOFFS
Outbound Logistics
Outbound logistics coordinates goods moving out of an operation toward the intended receiving point. It can include order release, picking, packing, staging, dispatch and transport handoffs under the agreed service scope.
OUTBOUND LOGISTICS IN PRACTICE
- Prepare the shipmentValidate goods, quantities and release.
- Control the handoffReconcile staging, loading and documents.
- Track the outcomeFollow agreed receipt and exception milestones.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
A correct route can still carry an incorrect order.
A warehouse dispatches a carton on time but the wrong UOM caused a case to be packed instead of one unit. Outbound performance needs quantity accuracy as well as the departure timestamp.
