MULTIMODE TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Multimodal Transportation
Multimodal transportation uses two or more transport modes within a goods movement. A single multimodal contract may coordinate the legs, but the broad movement definition alone does not establish the contractual structure.
MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION IN PRACTICE

- Review the arrangementConfirm document and responsibility scope.
- Control the handoffsTrack timing, cargo and exceptions.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Two modes need a connected service plan.
Goods move by truck, rail and sea. The shipper maps the mode changes and separately checks which provider and transport document govern each part or the complete movement.
