CURRENCY & COMMERCIAL RECORDS
Multi-Currency
Multi-currency capability supports transactions or records in more than one currency. Logistics systems may retain quote, invoice, payment and reporting currencies, each serving a different purpose.
MULTI-CURRENCY IN PRACTICE
- Retain the sourceRecord the original amount and currency.
- Define conversionSpecify rate source, date and rounding.
- Reconcile settlementTrack paid amounts, fees and differences.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
An invoice and its settlement can convert differently.
A freight invoice is issued in one currency and paid from an account in another. The finance team retains both source amounts and the conversion basis rather than silently relabeling the original invoice.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
