A manifest lists cargo or consignments associated with a defined transport movement or other logistics scope. Its required contents, issuer and submission process depend on the mode, jurisdiction and purpose.

MANIFEST IN PRACTICE

  1. Define the scopeIdentify the vehicle, movement and consignments.
  2. Reconcile the cargoCheck references, quantities and descriptions.
  3. Track the required eventsDistinguish submission, acceptance and release.

Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

A cargo list is not a delivery confirmation.

A carrier movement includes several consignments. The operator reconciles the manifest against shipment records while tracking customs release and final delivery separately.
