FACILITIES & DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS
Distribution Center (DC)
A distribution center is a facility that receives, holds and routes goods to downstream locations or customers. It can combine storage, replenishment, picking, consolidation and dispatch.

- Dispatch accuratelyMatch the load to the downstream commitment.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
One receipt. Two downstream flows.
A DC receives 100 cases. It allocates 60 to store replenishment and retains 40 as reserve stock. The same facility supports rapid movement and storage. Calling it a DC does not mean all 100 cases must leave within 24 or 48 hours.
