PRODUCTION & PROCESS TRACEABILITY
Continuous production manufacturing
Continuous production manufacturing processes material through an ongoing flow rather than a sequence of separately started batches. The configuration and control boundaries depend on the production system.
CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION MANUFACTURING IN PRACTICE
- Define the processMap inputs, transformations and output.
- Control the runMonitor conditions and transitions.
- Reconcile traceabilityLink input periods to approved output.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
A time interval identifies affected output.
A process deviation occurs during a defined production interval. The team uses the approved traceability method to identify potentially affected output and holds it for review. Calling the process continuous does not justify treating every finished unit as automatically released.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
Agree the requirement before comparing quotes
Use the actual shipment, stock and service requirements. Record the billing unit, included work and responsibility for exceptions.
A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT
Questions about Continuous production manufacturing
Does continuous production run forever without stops?
No. Planned and unplanned interruptions still occur.
Is continuous output automatically approved stock?
No. Release criteria still apply.
Can continuous processes retain lot traceability?
Yes. The appropriate traceability model must be defined and maintained.
