MULTI-SITE STOCK & PLANNING
Centralized inventory control
Centralized inventory control coordinates inventory policies or decisions from a common control point across locations or channels. Physical stock can remain distributed across multiple facilities.
CENTRALIZED INVENTORY CONTROL IN PRACTICE
- Define authorityAssign central and local decisions.
- Align the recordsStandardize identities, units and status.
- Reconcile the networkTrack transfers, timing and local exceptions.
Use the agreed units, actual records and approved procedures for your operation.
A WORKED EXAMPLE
Transfer 100. Do not sell the same 100 twice.
A central system requests a 100-unit transfer between warehouses. The origin records dispatch, but the destination has not yet received the goods. If both sites report those units as immediately available, the network can oversell. A defined in-transit state and reconciled handoff retain a reliable network picture.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR QUOTE
