Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a Transportation Assistant (Passenger) in the Air Transportation Division of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI. Initial consideration for this announcement is limited to the number of applications listed at the top of this announcement. Duties

  • You will provide passenger travel services and various personnel support needs of DoD travelers (military, civilian, contractor, and dependents) transiting through the passenger terminal.
  • You will determine passenger travel eligibility using DoD guidance for Air Transportation Eligibility and the DoD Foreign Clearance Guide (FCG).
  • You will maintain Space Available (Space-A) and Space Required (Space-R) passenger standby registers to determine priority order of movement.
  • You will prepare and issue passenger boarding passes, assign seats, and brief passengers on flight information.
  • You will support the Installation’s Passenger Deployment Function during mobilizations, contingency support operations, and exercises.
  • You will explain to travelers the restrictions of transportation of dependents, pets, POVs, excess baggage, space available travel, and related matters through the Aerial Port of Embarkation (APOE).
  • You will provide specialized services when processing categories of passengers IAW DTR for passenger movement and DOD guidance for air transportation eligibility.

Qualifications

GS-05 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: assisting with providing passenger travel services (e.g. reviewing travel documents, preparing and issuing boarding passes, weighing and tagging baggage, completing cash transactions, and providing a variety of information to passengers related to flight arrivals and departures, itineraries, customs clearance requirements, seat availability, collect monies associated with travel, etc.) while following well defined and precise program procedures and regulations. GS-06 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing passenger travel services (e.g. reviewing travel documents, preparing and issuing boarding passes, weighing and tagging baggage, completing cash transactions, and providing a variety of information to passengers related to flight arrivals and departures, itineraries, customs clearance requirements, seat availability, collect monies associated with travel, etc.) while following well defined and precise program procedures and regulations. Conditions of Employment Continued: - You will be required to obtain and maintain a Confidential security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. - You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. - This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. - You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
