MARINE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST

Summary

You will serve as a MARINE TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST in the DIRECTORATE OF MARITIME OPERATIONS (DMO), INTEL AND OPERATIONS (N2/3), FUTURE OPERATIONS (N35), DRY CARGO OPERATIONS (N35B) of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.

Duties

• You will develop implement, evaluate, and administer, all policy and procedural and operational functions affecting the worldwide employment and operations of all Sealift Program Ships.
• You will receive requirements and specifications for ocean tows and arrange for necessary capabilities to accomplish these tows.
• You will compile history status, statistics on all matters relating to Sealift Program ship operations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with marine regulatory frameworks, ship structures, control systems, propulsion systems, safety systems, and machinery. Operational Experience independently conducting marine regulatory reviews, ship inspections, surveys, audits, vetting, clearances, or incident investigations. Experience working as a marine surveyor, marine inspector, marine engineer, auditor, advisor, shipboard engineer officer, or deck (navigational) officer in the public or private sector. For Marine Transportation positions, experience in: Planning, directing, and supervising cargo or bulk petroleum movements such as: Embarkation and debarkation, cargo loading and discharge. Formulating marine transportation itineraries and routings according to commercial cost factors and tariffs. Formulating marine transportation traffic plans for personnel and cargo. Scheduling ships. Developing, analyzing, or evaluating cargo lift capabilities. Preparing statistics for planning operations of ships, or formulating budgetary estimates of cargo transportation costs.
